The Institut Mines-Télécom is a Établissement Public d’Enseignement Supérieur et de Recherche (French public higher education and research institute) in the fields of engineering and digital technology. It comprises the ten prestigious Mines and Télécom schools under the joint responsibility of the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Electronic Communications.
The institute trains 12,000 students (engineers, managers and doctors) and carries out top-level research and innovation activities. The quality and intensity of its partnership-led research have been recognised by two Institut Carnot awards, delivered in 2006 and renewed in 2011. Every year, some hundred start-ups leave its school’s incubators.
The Institut Mines-Télécom moved onto the Campus Paris-Saclay in March 2012 with research staff from the Télécom SudParis and Télécom ParisTech teams taking up residence at Nano-INNOV. Its contribution to the scientific and technological development of Campus Paris-Saclay will be increased with Télécom ParisTech’s future move to the site and additional activities by Télécom SudParis.
