La nouvelle Interface Homme-Machine de Scilab

Digiteo teams are involved in high-performance computing, modeling and simulation research areas. These areas are important issues to tackle for the future and support the research work development in other disciplines.

Scilab, the free and open source platform for numerical computation providing a powerful computing environment for engineering and scientific applications, is developped in this context.

Originally created by INRIA (the French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and Control), the Scilab Consortium has joint Digiteo in July 2008. This integration points out the strategic position of high-performance computing, modeling and simulation in Digiteo activities, chosen development priorities for the Scilab platform. Scilab has an encouraging environment within Digiteo since recruitment is promoted within a dedicated research and development team. The Consortium visibility is also increased, particularly among all the industrial actors involved in System@tic Paris-Region competitiveness cluster, partner of Digiteo.

Gathering both industrial needs and scientific advances, Scilab covers a wide spectrum of areas: aerospace, automotive, energy, defense, finance, chemistry, biology, medicine… Scilab includes hundreds of mathematical functions, 2-D and 3-D graphical functions and a programming environment. A large number of functionalities is contained in Scilab: control, simulation, optimization, signal processing... Xcos, the hybrid dynamic systems modeler and simulator, is provided with the platform. Scilab is also widely used in all levels of education.

The international scientific community, both academic and industrial spheres, invests in Scilab. Therefore, in France, Scilab is taught in universities and engineers schools (The École Centrale and the École Polytechnique are Scilab Consortium members), and used by important companies. Among other software, Scilab is going to be used at the Very Large Computing Center of Ter@tec campus. Around the world, in China, Japan, India, USA… engineers, students, researchers widely use Scilab.

Scilab is free software distributed under CeCILL License (GPL compatible) available on: www.scilab.org
